Up dates

Oh wow we have had some fun fundraising,

so after the carnival we were asked if we would like to put the car in The scarecrow weekend at Syresham, how to make a scarecrow and look anything like ‘Thelma & Louise’ ummmmm! So armed with Tshirts, newspaper, glue, needle & thread, paper mache & 2 balloons, ‘Thelma & Louise’ sat very proud in the car.

Our thanks to one of the sponsors Martin & Sheila Brown http://www.loringbrown.co.uk for allowing us to park on there drive, raising £45.87p

While they spent the weekend in the car, Janet & Sallie (Thelma) set up stall at Syresham Sports Club doing a car boot sale, raising a further £174, many thank to everyone who supported us over this weekend.

Lots been happening with Thelma & Louise!

So a lot to share, we have been busy bees! The car is now decorated with sponsors, our thanks to all the sponsors for there time & money, we will take your names with us all the way to Monte Carlo  and your money will go towards helping  terminally ill people & there families.

So what have we been up to, well Jill Sutton had a birthday bash with no pressies just one of our buckets & raised £786.20  With more money still coming in, Thelma & louise were away, so Phil took the car & did a little speech for us. 😀👌. Thank you to Jill & her friend for there generosity.

Brackley Carnival, we applied to be in the parade, & what fun, we had a great reception from the crowd, chased along the way by the local police, Olive who is 105, & Betty carnival queen.

A well deserved ice cream for ‘Thelma & Louise’

This weekend we are going to be replaced with scarecrows, our car will be sat on a friends drive at Syresham scarecrow weekend 18th & 19th June, also fundraising at a car boot sale ‘Syresham sports and social club‘, if your free come along & meet us.

Route!

This is a brief outline of our adventure. Monte Carlo or Bust!

Over 3 days, 4 countries, travelling over 950 miles,  in fancy dress completing a series of challenges along the way, with 80+ other cars, 300+ competitors. It’s Gonna be fun.

Thursday, Our trip will start in Saint Quentin where we will finally get to meet fellow teams, who will be easily recognised as we should all be dressed in the first fancy dress Challenge – beach wear!!
Friday, From Saint Quentin, dressed in our team costume (Thelma & Louise) we travel through France passing many war memorials to Reims -Gueux race track, for a quick check in, moving on through many vineyards (might be worth a quick stop) to Dijon

Saturday, From Dijon we will be travelling in our Onesies up into the mountains of Switzerland to Great St Bernard Pass – apparently one of the greatest drives in Europe. Stopping at the top for some amazing views, then hopefully our breaks will hold as we cross the border into Italy, which will be the third country of the day, finally ending the day in Turin.

Sunday, today we start at the National Automobile museum, we will be dressed as movie stars travelling from Turin over a few smaller mountains, through some beautiful scenery into Monte Carlo, where we can do a quick lap of the F1 circuit, have a bet in the casino and some lunch.

Finishing our adventure in Nice, final rendezvous,  presentations, speeches and surprises with our fellow teams mates. Ending our adventure.

Teams meeting up!

So the men have decided to join us, this is going to be fun!!

Lets have a evening catch up with a great movie, “Monte Carlo or Bust” released 1969, wow what a film, so many now famous names Tony Curtis, Peter Cook, Terry Thomas, Dudley Moore and many more, fun recognising them all. Gave us quite a few ideas for our trip.

Finally came the all important e.mail, ‘pre Rally Bible’ on the web site, wow what info! 1.accommodation along the way, 2.where to find a car, 3.charity, 4.insurance & breakdown cover, 5.Rules!!!!! 6.shopping list!!!(must haves)(nice to have)(don’t need but might want) interesting, 7.supporters, 8.transport, 9.final checks. such a lot to sort!! so, think another evening meeting coming up.

Team Meeting,  Indian or Chinese? takeaway. meeting place, Louise’s house. 7pm.      Time to sort dates & accommodation, also us girls to chat about costumes. oh & men still sorting out what car!!

Monte Carlo or Bust

Welcome to my 1st ever blog,

My friend and I decided to challenge ourselves to something a bit different & found the ‘Monte Carlo or Bust’ car rally! we had to find a car for £300, so where to start!! We had decided to go as ‘Thelma & Louise’ so really need a convertible, not going to be easy! We thought, I had seen a car sat outside some units in our local town, the car never moved, I wonder!!! Mentioned to ‘Louise’ only to find she knew the owner, so £300 later we had found our car, an Mazda MX5 😀👍🏻 So the register, now that’s interesting, women only teams £150, men & women £200 all men £200, not sure why. So registered, named, car purchased, Now the next challenge how could we decorate the car? Oh let me explain, this rally is like no other,  Points are rewarded for the best dressed car, fancy dress and challenges etc etc, it’s certainly not a race. So thinking caps on how to decorate the car, shall we do it to raise money for a charity, yep, Katharine House Hospice. So off we go to think of a design for our team car.
